![]() ![]() ![]() Haley's just financially fortunate, sure, but she's not horrible in the end.Admittedly, Haley isn’t very likable at first, but that’s because she was so dang judgemental. If someone said Alex is the male Haley, it'd be a bit of a stretch because he's got a lot of loss to cope with. I see her heart events and warming up to farming as a decent way to allow the player to finally have the pretty woman without the ugly attitude. She's the pretty girl, but if you had the average real life pretty girl, she'd be a demon. As a character, she's not incredibly deep. Even accidentally gave her raw fish and I still came back in time to get 4 whole hearts before the dance got done. On my latest character, I did the Flower Dance Year 1 just with Daffodils of various qualities. year 2 maybe? I found the job board but never noticed the calendar there, lol, until I read about it on the forums. In my first play through I didn't notice the calendar at Pierre's until. If you know what you are doing it's possible to dance with Haley at the first flower dance you attend (although I've never done it, I don't care for Haley). But you have to know the importance of birthdays, find the calendar on Pierre's store front, and acquire something Haley likes or loves to give on her birthday (which is before the flower dance, as is Shane's birthday IIRC). Ironically, Haley is one of only two candidates you can possibly get 4 hearts with before the flower dance in year 1. That only reinforces how important the dance is to the community (in my mind) and gives me a nice sense of progression when I can dance with the marriage candidate of my choice in year 2. So you can't dance with anyone in spring year 1? Not a big deal. I thought, from a story perspective, that having the flower dance so early did a nice job of reinforcing the fact that you are new to the community, an unknown, and a bit of an outsider. It didn't cause my any anxiety and stress, personally, lol. Games are supposed to be about escaping reality, not reminding people about their real life issues Originally posted by Huntlol:its kind of messed up though, this is supposed to be a calm casual farming game similar to harvest moon/rune factory and shouldnt cause anxiety or stress in others. I've never felt stressed or anxious while playing the game, just very calm and refreshed. It's up to you to turn it into something else. OTOH, forgetting to bring anything to my first Luau and letting the whole village down.that I felt bad about. The Luau was the only even I didnt fail to come prepared for in my first play throughs year 1 Originally posted by Huntlol:so whats the point of having that event on the first year on the first season? to make the player feel bad? I just watch the dance and try to place where I'll be dancing next year. Now, having played 3 games I don't even bother asking anyone at the first one. It made sense to me, you're the new guy and no one knows you that well. I didn't feel particularly bad the first time I played it. It's not like they give you advance notice about the flower dance or that you might have an opportunity to dance with someone at that event. Maybe to encourage the player to explore the marriage candidates so they have someone to dance with in year 2? If the flower dance was in fall, honestly I don't think it would occurred to me the first time I played to ensure I had 4 hearts with one of them by then. so whats the point of having that event on the first year on the first season? to make the player feel bad? ![]() Originally posted by sleepbag □:You need at least 4 hearts in order to not be rejected for the flower festival. ![]()
